Dry Canyon Arts Association

Diana Shire

Bio:

In 2022, Diana's son needed back surgery. To support him and provide assistance, Diana visited with him for several weeks in Virginia. Following his surgery, he was directed to stay off his feet. Since he is a project person and needed something to do without standing he came up with the idea of them making jewelry out of silverware. They used the tools he had available and were able to produce several pieces of rudimentary jewelry. Since then, Diana, a great grandmother who lives in Crooked River Ranch with her husband, daughter, son-in-law and three grandkids has expanded her hobby, which involves mostly hand bending, cutting, drilling and sanding of silverware into a small hobby that discovers new Silverwear Jewelry & Etc. designs and opportunities weekly!

Artist Statement:

Diana repurposes silverware into unique forms, resulting in wearable art, entertaining and useful items. She creates elegance by sustaining the beautiful designs of yesteryear. Silverwear Jewelry & Etc, includes silver feathers, whale tails, sun catchers and heirloom items designed to delight and last a life time.
