A short message from your Marketing Chair: October is a Special Month

October has always been my favorite month. Not only are the landscapes filled with all the colors of fall, my favorite holiday closes out the month with a party! I am so looking forward to seeing trick-or-treaters on 7th street again this year! Unfortunately this October has also brought with it some sad news. The passing of one of my Hero's has been a deeply personal loss. General Colin Powell's leadership, authenticity and wisdom was and is an inspiration to many, and his loss is a hard one. This has made me think about how often we delay thanking the people who have inspired us and contribute to our successes in life. With that, I want to thank our founding members. Without your tireless support and perseverance, this organization would not be possible. Please join me in thanking Linda Gillmore-Hill, K.C. Snider and Sharon Watkins especially. This is truly their dream and vision in the flesh. Also, a special thanks to Bill and Gilda for opening their home and studio for our September meeting. We had a wonderful turn out! Hopefully we will see you all again at this month's meeting on the 28th at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce office on 7th street. Remember that you don't have to be a member to attend. Bring something you are working on or want to share with the group. Let's talk about our creative process and inspirations. The Marketing committee needs some help with gathering Artist bio's and images for the website. Anyone interested in this project should contact me at 541-604-4207 or by email at marketing@drycanyonartsasociation.com. The Vice Chair position is still open! If you have any interest please reach out and let us know. Don't miss our next meeting at the Chamber office in Redmond. Thank you, Kimberly Krueger, Marketing Chair Dry Canyon Arts Association Please consider the following opportunities:

Vice Chairperson

This is a voting member of the board and the time commitment is minimal. The Vice Chairperson will need to attend board meetings held once a month and participate in decision making and planning discussions for association projects. The Vice Chairperson works with the board of directors of the organization; develops and enforces policies and objectives for the organization to ensure it maintains its values and meets established goals. Additionally the Vice Chairperson would step in and lead board meetings in the absence of the Chairperson.

If you are interested in this position please email Linda at linda.drycanyonarts@gmail.com

Lend Me Your Walls

The Lend Me Your Walls committee is looking for more volunteers to help with its program. As a member of this committee you will work with the Redmond Downtown Association's Kara Roach and other Redmond business and community leaders to create a network of business where our membership may have the opportunity to display their work in public spaces. This committee needs people who would be willing to spend some time getting to know Redmond businesses, coordinating locations and possibly transporting and hanging work.

If you would like to be involved please email Mel Archer at mela7910@gmail.com

A Space of Our Own

Join the tour! The DCAA will be conducting a tour of three cooperative creative workspaces in Bend. It is our hope to show our membership how a creative workspace can be a successful working hub for creatives in a community. We invite our membership who might be interested in participating in the creation of our own space to participate in the tour and consider joining the committee. Update: Two members have stepped forward and shown some interest. I'd like to have two more. Please let me know if you would like to help out. Also, the tour will be postponed until November/December due to the some new, and exciting, developments at the Workhouse and scheduling conflicts. If you would like to be involved or join us on the tour please email Kimberly at marketing@drycanyonartsassociation.com

We have 20 artists registered for the November show.

A special booth for DCAA members who have never shown before was suggested and voted on. The intent is to give DCAA members who have never shown their work before an opportunity to have their work on display. We will be offering a limited space to members who have not shown before to show during the November show. An invitation was sent out to members who have not already signed up to have a complete booth via email. There is a cost + 10% commission to cover expenses.

Marketing:

We are still looking for someone to help with website updates. This person will help with the collection of biography text, contact information and images for our list of members on the website.

Lend Me Your Walls:

Ongoing discussions with the Redmond business association are continuing.

A Place of Our Own:

The search is on for funding and space. We are moving forward with the cooperative workspace tour in Bend but postponing it until November/December due to some new activity at the Workhouse in Bend and scheduling conflicts. Two members have stepped forward, however this committee still needs more members.
