Mel started his career as a cabinetmaker at the age of 23, in Klamath Falls, Or. Moving to Forest Grove in 1982 he started the shop again, Pacific Design Inc was born. The demand for his custom cabinets grew exponentially as did the shop sq footage and the number of skilled employees. 36 yrs later, 25 employees and 25,000 sq ft. later, it was time to call it a day. Mel had the distinct pleasure of designing and supplying the finest cabinets imaginable to some really incredible homes in the Pacific NW and Hawaii. Retirement brought time to re-ignite his passion for art in the medium of fused glass. You can see his work at www.melarcher.com In January of 2022 Mel was voted in as chairman of Dry Canyon Arts Assoc and takes great satisfaction in seeing the Redmond artists community growing stronger.

Vice Chair
Born and raised Oregonian, Terri retired from security/law enforcement after 37 yrs. She is a professional watercolor artist, instructor, lover of animals. Terri Joined the DCAA in 2018, is the current treasurer and a member of multiple art associations.
Terri Dill-Simpson, Treasurer
After 50 years in the real estate industry as an international consultant living overseas for 20 of those years, Bill took up wood carving. Using 100 year old cedar fence posts and tree snags, he creates duck decoys and carves owls of all sizes and species. He also repurposes vintage persimmon golf clubs into golf ducks and unique bottle openers for the region's golfing community. Bill and his wife, Gilda live at Eagle Crest Resort.

As the Grants Committee Chair, Josie researches grants that will be beneficial to the DCAA organization and programs. She also helps members write grant proposals. Josie has also been involved in both the grant writing and the grant awarding process with non-profits and schools. An artist herself, she is pleased to support the DCCA mission.

Jackie provides social media content and runs the Hearts 4 Art volunteer program for DCAA. Jackie has worked in software sales and sales analytics for most of her career. She received an MBA from Chapman University with a focus on organizational leadership. Jackie loves living in Redmond, painting as much as she can and working part-time with foster families. Jackie lives with her husband, their big sweet labradoodle and 2 lovable bonker cats.

Jennifer spent 35 years in healthcare working for Legacy Health System in the Portland area before retiring in 2019. She worked primarily in management as a Quality Improvement Consultant, Compliance Manager and in Project Management. Jennifer started taking art classes after she retired and likes experimenting with many different art mediums. For DCCA, she is the Chair of First Friday Art Walk.

Bill, in an earlier life, spent 40+ years as a professional photographer specializing in scenic and environmental portraiture. After retiring Bill has been able to focus on his long time passion for wood work, which has now centered on ; turned and hand finished wood bowls and hollow vessels. Bill’s work is currently available at Arome in Redmond and Hood Avenue Art in Sisters.
